Located in Washington State, Woodhouse Family Cellars is boutique winery passionate about crafting high quality wine. Their wines are released a bit later than most so that they have an opportunity to rest, integrate and show their fullest flavor complexities. The 2007 La Vie en Rouge is Woodhouse’s second wine made from California grapes. Winemakers Tom Campbell and Jean Claude Beck used their decades of expertise to create a Zinfandel based wine that is varietally correct with old world sensibility, complex and age-worthy. La Vie en Rouge (Life in Red) is comprised of 70% Zinfandel and 30% Petite Sirah. It is an authentic Napa Valley blend that is rich, intense, and complex with beautiful defined cherry and huckleberry fruit aromas. The palate has wonderful flavors of black cherry that are smoky with pepper, sage, licorice and cinnamon that finishes with ripe, well defined tannins. Perfect now, this wine will drink well through 2014. This wine is extremely versatile, light enough to accompany any lunch fare, yet a perfect companion to pastas, roasts, steaks and cheeses.
