2009 Heritage de Madame Rouge Sec – Auguste Bonlouis France

Auguste Bonlouis is located in the township of Rize Minervois at the foothills of the Causse Plateau. It consists of several parcels totaling 34 hectares of which 28 are under vine. The estate has undergone extensive renovation and replanting since being purchased by winemaker Michel Fabre and French businessman Gontran Dondai. The Minervois appellation is locate about 50 miles inland from the Mediterranean coast. The vineyards of this region are one of the largest expanses of vine growing area in the world. Auguste Bonlouis’ latest offering is a blend of Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a rich and complex wine with deep and elegant aromas of very ripe grapes which evoke a touch of spice and black fruit. On the palate it shows a peppery terroir which is encased in very fine tannins with great finesse and elegance. It has flavors of very ripe blackberry fruit and a lingering finish. Serve with grilled meats, tapas, pizza and full-flavored cheese. Drink now through 2012.
